Remembering Mondo’s: 60 throwback snaps from the legendary Oban club

Mondo’s was famous for its club nights throughout the naughties and is often brought up when someone asks the question of ‘what do you miss most about Oban.’

Mondo, which is Italian for world, was a restaurant by day, but after sunset, the lights dimmed, the tables were cleared, and the entertainment began.

In addition to its restaurant and bar out front, the building was home to the Cooler Club at the back, where the legendary discos took place.

Mondo’s thrived at a time where social media was scarce, flip phones were in fashion, and pole dancing was a weekly sport. Because of this, its digital footprint is almost non-existent.

However, thanks to Mark Gowdie at Digital Kangaroo, we’ve managed to get our hands on a spectacular selection of photographs that will transport you back to the good old Cooler Club days.

Enjoy the trip down memory lane and let us know if you spot someone you recognise!
